Nortel to Set Up R&D Center in Bangalore

Nortel announced it is setting up an NTEC (Nortel Technology Excellence Center) aimed at new product design, development, and testing in Bangalore, India. In the initial phase, the R&D facility will be staffed with the original secure router R&D team of Tasman Networks, a company acquired by Nortel in February 2006. Overall, estimated more than 100 engineers will by employed by the end of 2006. Situated in Bangalore's IBC Knowledge Park, this first NTEC in India will carry on Nortel's R&D efforts on advanced routers, Ethernet switching, security, and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technologies.
